Gold Humanism Honor Society Reward Recipient
The Gold Humanism Honor Society recognizes students, residents and faculty who are exemplars of compassionate patient care and who serve as role models, mentors, and leaders in medicine. Members are peer nominated and are the ones that others say they want taking care of their own family. Since its inception in 2002, Gold Humanism Honor Society has grown in influence to become a vital part of medical school and residency training program cultures throughout the US.

Julie Byrnes’ peers feel that she entered medical school as one of the most prepared, insightful, and compassionate people at Icahn. She consistently showed that she is invested in the wellbeing of her patients by going the extra mile to think about the needs of her patients. Her empathetic ways and being able to intuitively understand her patients demonstrated to her peers how to be an advocate to their patients. Not only does Julie advocate for her patients, she advocates for her peers as well by creating an equitable environment for both. With that, we would like to acknowledge and congratulate Julie.
