Manasa Geeta Rao

Geeta came to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai from Yale University, where she double-majored in Neuroscience and the History of Science, Medicine and Public Health. She was admitted to the FlexMed program at Sinai in 2017 and entered the MD program in 2019.

While at Icahn, Geeta participated in the East Harlem Health Outreach Partnership (EHHOP) Gynecology clinic as a teaching senior, volunteered as an emergency room advocate with the Mount Sinai Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention (SAVI) program, was co-president of the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) chapter at Icahn, and was involved on the curricular team as an OBGYN clerkship representative. She participated in several research projects with the Maternal Fetal Medicine department and has published three first-author articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Geeta would like to thank her family, partner, friends and classmates for their continuing love and encouragement. She would specifically like to thank her mentor Dr. Joanne Stone, who has been a source of endless support and inspiration since her first year at Icahn. Geeta would also like to thank the many faculty members within the OBGYN department, including Dr. Katherine Chen and Dr. Chelsea DeBolt, for their countless hours of advice and guidance.

Geeta will graduate with her MD degree and continue her residency training in OBGYN at NYP-Hospital Columbia University.
