The Gold Humanism Honor Society recognizes students, residents and faculty who are exemplars of compassionate patient care and who serve as role models, mentors, and leaders in medicine. Members are peer nominated and are the ones that others say they want taking care of their own family. Since its inception in 2002, Gold Humanism Honor Society has grown in influence to become a vital part of medical school and residency training program cultures throughout the US.

Mahayla Gogerly-Moragoda is a compassionate and diligent medical student, truly dedicated to ensuring the best possible care for her patients. Her commitment to patient well-being goes above and beyond the call of duty, as she often visits her patients even when there are no assigned tasks, taking extra time to be present for and play with pediatric patients in the PICU. Mahalya also demonstrates an unwavering commitment to meticulous documentation. While some may prioritize completing notes quickly, she prioritized accuracy and thoroughness, ensuring her patients had an accurate record of their care, which will undoubtedly benefit their future interactions with healthcare providers.
